Why do I do this? Why do I write here and in my own private, paper journal? There are so many fantastic blogs out there. I’ve already enjoyed 3 of them just this morning. You can see what I read here
and here
I actually liked the post from November 19th even better than today’s but they are both great. She has a simple/complex way of writing that intrigues me. Her photography adds so much and I love the piano piece that plays. Some days I go to her site just to hear that calming music.
I sometimes let other people’s fantastic abilities stop or at least slow me down from doing what I do. And you know what? That goes against everything I believe. Everything. I believe God created everyone of us. He made us unique and all that we have to offer is valuable. It shouldn’t be like our neighbor’s because it’s not theirs it’s ours. All my life I’ve been surrounded by hugely “talented” people. My best childhood friend can just hear music inside her. She sings it, plays it and even writes it. So do many, many of my friends. My brother has played guitar as long as I can remember. My friend Kathy can write in a way that speaks directly to your heart and we won’t mention her baking. I put on 5 pounds just thinking about it. My list of accomplished friends could go on and on. While that’s fun (knowing such amazing people) it can be intimidating if I let it.
But why should I let it?
I shouldn’t.
Check out the words to this old Hymn:
- Why should I feel discouraged,why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely,and long for heav’n and home,
When Jesus is my portion? My constant Friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.Refrain:
I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free,
For His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.“Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;
Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing,when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.Or listen to it here: His Eye is On the Sparrow
If the Lord values and watches a sparrow – I know He values and watches me as well. The same is true for you. YOU are a valued “Treasure” to God…and to those around you. Share who you are!
Happy Thanksgiving!
