Anxiety (stress) is probably the number one cause of illness. When your mind doesn’t rest your body cannot properly take care of itself. That directly leads to illness. It often shows up as headaches or indigestion but can show up in many other ways. If you are not feeling well and can’t seem to “shake it” consider whether or not there is stress in your life. That could be the root cause of your illness. If you don’t deal with the “root” of the illness you won’t ever completely get over the illness. Are you just treating the symptoms?
I am fighting with anxiety and sorrow. However, please notice the words. I am “fighting.” We have choices everyday. I can choose to live like an air traffic controller, eyes glued to the screen watching every single “blip”striving to control the movements of everyone else in m life. I can try to keep them all from colliding or I can pray and let God be God. That’s not to say that I do not have responsibilities, I do.
My first responsibility is to acknowledge that God is God and He can handle me and my life. Then I need to get to know God personally. My next responsibility is to listen to Him and do as He commands. Those things are pretty clear but when it comes to “fleshing this out” day to day sometimes it’s hard to know exactly what to do, if anything. That’s where prayer and faith to wait until you do know comes in. It’s trusting, really trusting God.
“Be still and know that I am God.” Isaiah 46:10
How does anxiety effect you? What do you do to alleviate it?
