I’m learning that focus is HUGE in accomplishing anything. I know that’s not “rocket science.” However when there are so many demands on our time it is easy to become distracted. What’s that saying about the tyranny of the urgent? We need to decide what we want out of life, how we want to live. I’m guessing you are like me, you want to enjoy life. So I’m deciding what things I love, I’m passionate about and I’m focusing on those things and letting the rest fall off….
That said, I can’t truthfully say I’m passionate about exercise in and of itself. I realize some people are. I am not. I am passionate about enjoying my life, living fully in each moment. In order to do that I have to feel good. I need energy to do all the things I’m interested in doing. Therefore I need to live “smart”. So as you have been hearing from me and will continue to hear from me for some time to come. I’m keeping it simple. One step at a time to health. I’m trying to create healthy habits or a healthy lifestyle a little at a time.
My current habit is learning to take my running/walking through the colder temperatures. Honestly, I’m already struggling because I love doing this outdoors and with the change in time and temps it’s dark and pretty cool when I get home from work. The good news is I work part-time so there are a few days weekly I should be able to get out until it gets way too cold and/or icy. I am also continuing with drinking 1/2 my weight in water daily. Some days are better than others but most days I can do this with little hassle. My new challenge is I really need to strengthen my core and my shoulders. (Shoulders due to some neck issues) My friend Janelle has once again brought forth a challenge. We are doing a plank challenge for the month of November. Whether I complete the challenge perfectly or not, it keeps me motivated to try and doing more than I would otherwise.
Can you name one healthy habit you are maintaining and one you are working on? Would you share it? Sharing encourages others.
