Sometimes we need to just relax and enjoy the moment. We are finding that we want/need to do more of this. To just appreciate the moment and enjoy what we have. This weekend we did a pretty good job of that. Saturday we enjoyed our friends by helping them prepare and then celebrate their son’s marriage. They threw a great party. Casual with the emphasis on enjoying those around you. A little music, some good food and a place to gather. We sat at a table of 10 with people we haven’t visited with in months. Very nice.
After that we were off to Harlan, Iowa where we have been helping with worship for two years now. We really enjoy the people. This Sunday was Mark’s first one there not leading worship. We are on our way out and they have a new worship leader coming in. We enjoyed being a part of the change. Then we stayed for their first time ever, meal and communion after the main service. They allowed for a time of testimony from the anyone who attended. It was so encouraging to hear people talk about recognizing God in their life. Again, time with people we care about – nothing fancy, just together.
We finished the weekend just resting together. We read the paper, watched a movie, napped and talked. It was great. I’m so glad my husband and I both love music and ourdoors. We have the same vision of retirement, never fully stopping work but changing it’s time and setting. We both thoroughly love being with our kids and now grand-daughter. Marriage can be a safe, enjoyable way of life if we let it. I’m working on taking more time to appreciate our marriage. What are you thankful for in regard to your marriage?
