After a great weekend at home it’s easy to thank God and pray for my husband. This morning as nearly every morning I used a book by Stormie Omartian, “The Power of a Praying Wife.” I know some of you are thinking I hate reading prayers or it’s just not the same. It’s not sincere when you “read” a prayer. That can all be true but I have learned enough about myself to know that if anything helps me stay diligent about something I deem important it’s a good thing in my life. So years ago when I was challenged to pray daily for my husband I began this practice. You read that right. It has been years since I started this daily prayer for my husband. There are 30 chapters in this book and 30 days in most months. Today is the 21st. I use chapter 21 for my prompt to pray for my husband today. Today it really struck me when praying for protection for our marriage it says, “Shield it from our own selfishness and neglect….Set us free from past hurts, memories, and ties from previous relationships.” Big or little these are all things that really sabatoge a marriage. Why would I NOT pray daily for my husband and our marriage. I have the God of the universe in my life. Why would I not ask Him for help? So now I’m challenging you. Why would you not pray for your spouse daily?
Any stories to share about answered prayer? Do you have anything that helps you remember to pray?
